Dear Friends & Family,
The first half of July turned out to be a very busy but very productive time for us. Joining us for two weeks was a short-term team from East Sarang Community Church in Chino, CA. Karl coordinated the team together with Tam, who works in student ministry in nearby Lopburi. The schedule was packed with English teaching, an evangelistic student cafe, open air evangelism & tracting, children’s ministry, and preaching.
Ministering at the Phrabaht church is often very discouraging and lonely, so it has been wonderful to have so many enthusiastic, dedicated young people with us, as well as their team leader, a former classmate of Karl’s from Gordon Conwell Seminary. Working more closely with Tam was also a great experience as Tam is a hard working Biblically minded servant of God with whom we can communication well.

Dear Friends & Family,
June signals the start of the school year here in Thailand and life is busy and our days are long. Karl has restarted the evangelistic kids club in Nong Doan and our first week had 20-30 kids, mostly returnees from the previous year. As we reviewed Creation, Sin, and Noah’s Ark, some kids called out, “We know that already!” That’s great. It means that they remember some of what we did last year and we can build on those foundations. Last year we spent lots of times doing Old Testament stories, especially the first part of Genesis. This year we’ll focus more on the New Testament. Student worker Tam, some new student ministry interns will help out, as well as Pastor Jareun from the PhraBaht church. Please pray for these children from poor homes in rural Nong Doan. Pray that these stories and songs at kids club will be used of God to bring about faith and repentance in their lives as they grow up.

Dear Friends & Family,
Perhaps you noticed that we did not have a prayer letter this past April. We were tired and really close to vacation time so decided to skip a month. We’re in the midst of Thai hot season, which is particularly hot this year, so it was good to get away to the beach for a couple weeks even it is often not so restful with two small children.
When we arrived back in PhraBaht, we were glad to discover that Pastor Jareun and his family were about to head out for a week of vacation. Thai people almost never take vacations, and only take a few days off around international New Year’s (Jan 1) and Thai New Year’s (April 13-15). Jareun and his family really needed a rest so we were glad that they decided to do something counter-cultural here in Thailand - taking a vacation.

Dear Friends & Family,
Greetings from Northern Thailand! No, we have not moved from Phrabaht but for the first two weeks of March are attending Pre-Home Assignment Workshop in Chiang Mai to help us prepare for our upcoming home assignment (furlough) from Dec 2010 to Oct 2011. We are busy reviewing our life and ministry over the past few years, preparing talks, and starting to plan for the where, when, and who of our time in the States. We’re looking forward to time back home to reconnect with many of you and to share what we we’ve seen God doing in Thailand over the past four years. And looking ahead to AFTER our home assignment, we’re asking God to give us at least one more missionary family to join our church planting team here in Thailand. May the LORD of the harvest give us desperately needed like-minded co-laborers in the Gospel for His work here in Thailand. Please pray with us (Matt 9:37-38)
