 Dear Friends & Family,
Please accept our apologies for not sending an April prayer letter. We know that many of you have been praying for us, and especially for our support to go up.
We are pleased to inform you that our financial support level has now passed 95% and we have clearance to leave for Thailand! This is a great answer to prayer, and we want to thank you all for praying for us in this specific need. The additional support came in through a combination of new supporters and current supporters increasing their pledges. God is good in providing in his time, through your generosity! Thank you!
We have not yet bought airplane tickets but will buy them soon, after we wrap up a couple items here in the States. We expect to leave in May and will send out an email/Facebook update when we have an exact date.

 Dear Friends & Family,
We’re still here! I know that many of you thought we would be in Thailand by now - and so did we!
We are really thankful that more support has come in but we are still not quite where we need to be financially. Last month, we told you that we were almost there (which we are) but after a conversation with a fellow missionary, we went over our budget again and realized that we can’t make some of the cuts that we wanted to make without hurting ourselves in the long-run and possibly not having the money that we need for life and ministry in higher cost Bangkok. So, our latest update is this: We are still almost there and are praying hard that the needed additional support will come in within the next month or so. If we don’t return by mid-April, we will have to re-apply for visas for Sun, Joshua, & Caitlin - a $240 expense we’d rather not have. And this is besides the fact that we want to move to Bangkok and get settled in before the school term at Bangkok Bible Seminary (BBS) starts in August. Karl will be teaching “Intro to World Missions” to the students at BBS this fall.

 Dear Friends & Family,
Thank you everyone for standing with us in prayer as we have been in a holding pattern waiting for our financial support to go back up so we can return to Thailand.
ALMOST THERE!By the time you read this our situation might have changed, but as of right now (Feb 2nd) we are $362/month short of 100% support, and $40/month short of 95% support (the minimum amount required by OMF International for us to receive clearance to return to Thailand). That’s really close! Our support gap used to be much bigger but we’ve seen it close through 1) making serious cuts to our budget, and 2) seeing God provide through a few large one-time gifts, and new (or increased) financial support pledges. We have felt tempted to cut the budget even further in order to get back more quickly but we don’t want to get out to Bangkok and find that we don’t have the funds that we need to live and minister. So, no more budget cuts, but more prayer and more visiting with churches and people interested in our work in Thailand. We are really thankful to God that He has brought us thus far, and we are confident that he will provide what is needed to bring us the rest of the way. Since we are so close to the 95% support figure, we are very hopeful to leave for Thailand in March.

 Dear Friends & Family,
Happy New Year! This past year has been a very good but very busy. We arrived in California in January and Karl started an intense program of graduate studies. Joshua started school (pre-K and now kindergarten). Sun worked hard on finding us the right house, which we bought in June. Karl successfully finished up his Th.M degree in December, and now we are working on getting back to Thailand. Praise God for his provision for our family is so many ways!
DEPARTURE DELAYEDSometimes missionaries on home assignment see their support drop because people think that they don’t need money because they are home. We are thankful for our many faithful supporters who have stuck with us during our year at home and are ready to see us off again to the mission field. Praise be to God that since we wrote to you last month a couple large donations have come in to help alleviate our low support problem. The support gap is closing but we are still not where we need to be. Thus, we must delay our anticipated January departure. We are hopeful however, that we’ll get good news of more support in the next few weeks so that we can leave for Thailand in February. We don’t know where that support will come from but are praying for the Lord’s provision. Until the support comes in, we are stuck in a holding pattern here. We want to take off! Please pray that we’ll soon get news of new support pledges so we can book our tickets!
