2011 Thai Church Statistics and Map
The latest statistics for the growth of Christianity in Thailand have been released by Dwight Martin and his team at the eStar Foundation. The Big Picture
- At the end of 2011, the Protestant Christian population of Thailand is 0.58%, up from 0.54% in 2009.
- The 2011 annual growth rate of Christians in Thailand is 5.22%. The 2011 annual population growth rate in Thailand is 0.57% (source). That means that the number of Christians is growing 9 times faster than the general population.
Most Christians Live in...
- 57% of all Christians live in the North. 51% are from the provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son alone.
- In the past four years, 33.19% of all new church members for the whole country came from the province of Chiang Mai, 9.22% of all new church members for the whole country came from the city of Chiang Mai, but the percent of the national population living in Chiang Mai is only 2.57%.
The Fastest Growth is in...
- The fastest yearly growth rate is occurring in the East (8.98%). However, the fewest percentage of all Christians in the country live there.
The Slowest Growth is in...
- One-third of the county's population live in the Northeast (Isaan) but this region has the slowest growth rate (3.13%).
